Position Summary

Torreyson Library seeks applicants for the position of Coordinator of Library Staff and Community Engagement. Position schedule: M-F 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Apply at jobs.uca.edu.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

This position serves on the library administration team and is an integral part of library leadership, serving to bridge the gap between the personal and professional needs of library staff and the continuously growing and changing needs of an academic library. Additionally, this position has duties to engage the local community and will assist the library in grants management. Following are the job duties and responsibilities of this position:

  • Coordinator of Library Staff (75%)
    • Voice of Library Staff in library leadership
    • Liaison with University Human Resources
    • Supervise library administrative staff and cross-functional library staff members
    • Provides general HR duties for the library
      • Confirms that hiring documents are entered in the appropriate software
      • Oversees the place of job advertisements in appropriate places
      • Ex officio participant on all hiring committees
        • Assists committee chair with administrative tasks
      • Provides on-boarding for all employees
      • Coordinates employee annual evaluations
      • Ensures proper off-boarding for all employees
      • Completes appropriate paperwork
    • Coordinates internal library communication
    • Training & Development
      • Tracks employee mandatory training
      • Leads professional development day planning
      • Coordinates year-long professional development
    • Awards & Rewards
      • Develops and implements an internal library program for awards
      • Maintains a schedule of awards and rewards external to the library
    • Keeps the staff master calendar
      • Schedules desk assignments
      • Approves time sheets
    • Works with appropriate library faculty and staff to coordinate best HR practices with student employees
  • Community Outreach and Engagement (15%)
    • Assisting and coordinating the library’s efforts with outreach to the Conway community
      • Researching and coordinating collaborations, as appropriate and applicable, with:
        • the public library
        • other Conway institutions of higher education
        • the K-12 school systems
  • Library Grants Coordinator (10%)
    • Researching project grants
    • Assisting in grant applications
    • Assisting with grant administration
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education and/or Experience

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree plus three years of supervisory experience; demonstrated leadership experience. Add'l requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Background in Human Resource work. Experience in a library setting. Office management experience. Experience in training.
