GFT is seeking an experienced Substation P&C Designer to join our Power Group. This position supports power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects, focusing on protection and control design for high voltage substations up to 765 kV. You will generate designs and detailed engineering deliverables under the supervision of the lead engineer and project manager, perform basic engineering calculations, and develop one- and three-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams, control and relay panel layouts and specifications, SCADA interfaces, and auxiliary systems. You will compile material lists, quote/order materials as needed, follow supervisor instructions on complex design assignments, review technical drawings for conformance to standards and customer requirements, travel to job sites as needed, interact with clients, and perform quality reviews of peers’ projects. Design and execution of high-voltage substation projects from 4kV to 765kV with emphasis on safety, cost, quality, and reliability Generate designs and detailed engineering deliverables under supervision Complete basic engineering calculations related to design deliverables Develop one- and three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, control/relay panel layouts and specifications, SCADA interfaces, and auxiliary systems Compile relay and control material lists and manage materials per contracts Follow supervisor instructions to perform complex design tasks Review substation drawings to ensure adherence to standards and customer requirements Travel to job sites for assessment and data gathering as needed Communicate with clients and perform quality reviews of peers’ work Qualifications
5+ years of relevant substation or electrical T&D design experience Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and IEEE codes Knowledge of substation voltages, MV, HV, EHV Ability to manage tasks to meet project schedules and budgets Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to review documents and propose value engineering ideas Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) Preferred
Experience in the energy industry or a consulting environment Compensation
Salary range: $85,000 – $100,000, dependent on experience and location. Benefits
