for the right candidate. What You Will Do
GFT is seeking an experienced Substation P & C Designer to join our Power Group. You will be responsible for the protection and control design of high voltage substation projects up to 765kV and contribute to projects that drive the future of energy infrastructure. Design and execution of high-voltage substations projects in the 4kV – 765kV range with emphasis on safety, cost, quality, and reliability Generate designs and detailed engineering deliverables under the supervision of lead engineer and project manager Complete basic engineering calculations related to design deliverables Develop one- and three-line diagrams; schematics and wiring diagrams; control and relay panel layouts and specifications; wiring diagrams for control/relay panels and equipment; SCADA interfaces including RTUs, HMIs, and IEDs; auxiliary systems (batteries and chargers) Prepare material lists for relays and control equipment and quote/order materials per contractual agreements Follow instructions of supervisors or engineers for more complex design tasks Review and interpret substation technical drawings and conditions to ensure installation and operations meet industry standards and customer requirements Travel to job sites for project assessment and data collection as needed Communicate and interact with clients Perform quality reviews of projects completed by peers Qualifications
5+ years of relevant substation or electrical T&D design experience Proficiency with computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD & MicroStation) Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and IEEE codes Knowledge of substation voltages, MV, HV, EHV Ability to manage tasks to meet schedules and budgets Strong written communication and ability to review project documents Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) Preferred
Experience in the energy industry or a consulting environment Continued knowledge of NESC, NEC, and IEEE codes Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is
$85,000 - $100,000 , dependent on experience and geographic location.
