Overview

The part-time Audience Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring patrons have a delightful and seamless experience from the moment they interact with the Department of Theatre Arts & Performance Studies (TAPS) at Brown University. This seasonal position will primarily work during the academic year, with schedule subject to change based on the Department's events and programming. As the first point of contact for our audience, the role provides exceptional customer service, addresses inquiries, and supports ticketing and event-related operations, including box office and front of house. The role also assists with audience outreach efforts, helping to promote events and build community connections.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patrons, delivering exceptional customer service and addressing inquiries.
  • Support ticketing and event-related operations, including box office and front of house activities.
  • Assist with audience outreach efforts to promote events and build community connections.
  • Contribute to creating a positive and welcoming environment to support successful events.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of one year experience in Front of House is preferred.
  • Current Rhode Island Crowd Management Certification, or a commitment to complete this Certification prior to the first performance of the departmental mainstage season.
  • Demonstrated understanding of ADA regulations and accessibility in event planning and customer service.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and principles for emergency management, fire safety, crowd management, and general event safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with ticketing/CRM systems; Experience with AudienceView is a plus.
  • Ability to work autonomously with attention to detail and remain composed in high-pressure situations.

Working Conditions

The position is required to work nights and weekends. This is a fixed-term part-time position, 18 hours per week, August – May, subject to renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding.
