Job Description

The Sr. Manager of College Marketing is responsible for the development and execution of marketing strategies that support enrollment growth and other priorities for one of WGU’s four academic colleges (College of Business, College of Health Professions, College of IT, or Teachers College). Succeeding in this role requires the Sr. Manager to be the Marketing team’s expert in all internal and external factors that affect college performance including the evolving portfolio of academic course and program offerings, industry associations and employer partnerships, target audiences, market demand trends, regional and national competitor behavior, etc.

One of the most important responsibilities of the Sr. Manager is to liaise with senior executives and other leaders of their assigned college to set performance targets and budgets, develop supporting strategies, execute on college-specific initiatives, and forecast and report on results. S/he will exert cross-organizational influence and marshal the full breadth of Marketing team resources in support of college priorities; this requires an ability to persuade others to action and a fluency in various marketing disciplines, including the full breadth of traditional and digital media, SEO, content marketing, conference and event marketing, and more.

The Sr. Manager of College Marketing acts as a critical bridge between his/her assigned college and the Marketing team. In this role, s/he will spend relatively equal time interfacing with college leaders and members of the Marketing team, and must build trust and wield strong influence within and between both organizations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Build relationships of trust with college and Marketing leaders; facilitate strong cross-organizational information sharing and cooperative strategy development.
  • Be the expert in all marketing activities and external factors influencing college performance.
  • Assist with setting college-specific performance targets, and provide regular reporting, forecasts, and root-cause insights to inform ongoing adjustments to drive KPIs.
  • Drive college-specific marketing initiatives, partnering with various teams across Marketing to translate strategies into tactical execution.
  • Work closely with the internal and agency creative teams to ensure that creative requests are accurate, on time, and on brand.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Significant client or key stakeholder management experience.
  • Executive-level communication ability. Must be able to clearly and persuasively communicate both verbally and in writing with staff at all levels of the university.
  • Strong quantitative and strategic analysis skills. Must be able to gather and analyze data and research reports to identify significant trends, implications, and opportunities.
  • Fluency in a wide variety of marketing disciplines, including traditional and digital media, SEO, content marketing, and conference and event marketing.
  • Exceptional project management and organization skills.
  • Drive and ability to influence others to act without direct reporting authority.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of experience leading Marketing initiatives
  • Understanding of MarTech platforms (Content Management Systems, Forms, A/B Testing Solutions, Databases, Analytics, etc.)
  • 5+ years of people management experience.

Position & Application Details
