About the role
Mansueto Ventures, the publisher of Inc. and Fast Company, is looking for an audio producer who will be responsible for producing podcast episodes and segments for Inc and Fast Company, including interview shows, narrative-style series, and YouTube. This includes pitching segments, interview prep, booking guests, recording remotely and in-person, scripting, editing transcripts, writing copy, and publishing episodes. The audio producer will ensure advertising requirements are met by recording promos and inserting ads into episodes.
The ideal candidate is a journalist first and willing to pick up technical skills along the way. Reporting experience for a business publication is ideal. Someone who stays up to date on the latest news, is comfortable cold calling sources, comms reps, and analysts, and willing to dive into earnings reports will fit right in.
This position is covered under the Writers Guild of America East Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary range: $76,000-$82,000. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, industry, and education.
What you’ll be doing
- Work alongside Executive Producers and newsroom editors to develop multimedia reporting.
- Effectively communicate changing deadlines, delays, and editing status.
- Develop creative strategies for series or stories with multimedia potential.
- Provide support to colleagues when their work intersects with audio.
- Review and critique internally produced shows and stories.
- Maintain a creative and collaborative work environment.
What we’re looking for
- At least 3 years of experience working in print, audio, and/or video news media.
- A background in business journalism is preferred.
- Experience with shooting or editing video is a plus but not required.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Ability to edit rough cuts and implement script notes quickly and thoughtfully.
- Strong research and communication skills for inviting and interviewing guests.
- Ability to integrate multiple rounds of notes and deliver careful edits on tight deadlines.
- Experience directing voice tracking sessions, either in person or remotely.
- Ability to arrange interviews and oversee recording sessions, often via remote connections.
- Proven ability to develop efficient workflows that improve production quality.
- Willingness to contribute to audience development strategy.
