Position Summary

We’re hiring 1 part-time (up to 10 hours, 2-4 hours expected) Social Media Content Creator to join the Education Programs at OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon. In this role, you’ll help drive the creative direction of our presence on TikTok, Instagram, and/or Facebook, highlighting our undergraduate and graduate teaching programs and spotlighting current students, alumni, and faculty. This may also include content on the teaching profession and local community events. You’ll be encouraged to experiment, try out-of-the-box ideas, and develop skills in content creation, social strategy, and audience engagement. You’ll collaborate with Teacher Education faculty on ideas, strategies, and posting schedule. We’re looking for students with experience creating and curating content, who are willing to conduct interviews and background research. Creativity, playfulness, and personality are encouraged — authentic student voices are desired. Priority will be given to graduate or undergraduate education students with familiarity of the OSU-Cascades Education programs, though prior experience with these programs is not required. Pay is $20/hour.

Position Duties

70% Video Production and Posting

Create and publish 1 post each week. Use creativity, humor, and perspective to produce authentic content that resonates with prospective and current students.

15% Creative Brainstorming

Regular check-ins with Teacher Education faculty via email, videoconference, and in-person meetings.

10% Engagement and Analytics

Positively interact with social media followers and track engagement. Review analytics to learn what’s working and adjust content strategies.

Qualifications

Eligibility

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
  • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by USCIS. A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS) and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • A commitment to creating inclusive content for diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to work as a team member and take creative direction from others.
  • A strong commitment to this role, including showing up consistently, meeting deadlines, and proactively contributing ideas.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

  • Experience shooting and editing videos for social media (from your phone is okay).
  • Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook
  • A strong sense of trends and pop culture to drive engaging content
