Crate and Barrel Designers help customers see what is possible with the latest on-trend merchandise by building meaningful, long-term relationships and guiding customers who are furnishing an entire room or adding an accent piece. Designers stay up-to-date on trends and work with a range of design styles from classic to contemporary. They utilize digital tools during in-store and in-home consultations to show how furniture, fabrics and decor can bring a customer’s vision to life.

A day in the life as a Designer...

  • Drive sales and a differentiated experience by providing enriching customer interactions and elevated design offerings in-store, in-home, and virtually.
  • Create elevated designs for customers using moodboards, 2D & 3D floor plans, product lists and customer presentations.
  • Lead design consultations in person (in-store or in-home) or via email, phone and virtual.
  • Deliver projects in a timely manner within defined timelines.
  • Understand brand aesthetics and merchandising strategy by channel (Store, E‑Commerce, Catalog).
  • Maintain up-to-date product knowledge, including characteristics and care information, and stay informed about competition and industry trends.
  • Meet individual sales, KPI and service goals, productivity standards, and engage customers on the sales floor with selling skills.
  • Listen to customer needs and communicate loyalty services (e.g., designer rewards, Design Trade Program, credit card).
  • Provide excellent service with a positive attitude and enthusiasm, ensuring gracious, quick, and efficient service.
  • Support store training on design services to drive understanding of offerings.
  • Develop new and lasting relationships with customers through networking and clienteling.

What you\'ll bring to the table...

  • Understanding of basic design functions including spatial planning, fabric selection, lighting, and interior design styles.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate the brand vision and customer needs.
  • Affinity for technology (2D and 3D tools, Google suite, video conferencing, iPad) and proficiency in floor planning.
  • Ability to stay up to date on current design trends.
  • Proven track record of building long-lasting relationships with customers.

We’d love to hear from you if you have…

  • 6+ months of competitive sales or interior design service experience preferred.
  • Ability to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds; heavier merchandise with team assist.
  • Full-Time: Open availability to work flexible hours on weekdays, evenings and weekends.
  • Part-Time: Availability to work two or more weekend days and at least one weekday or night.

Minimum Starting Rate: $16.00 Hourly Up to: $36.00 Hourly. Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to salary, associates may be eligible for bonuses, sales incentives, and long-term incentives depending on role.
