Our client, a cosmetic brand, is seeking a Social Content Editor for a 6 month contract role covering a parental leave. Talent are required to be local to NYC to attend shoots/events when required. Ideally, in office 1 day/week in Soho.

SUMMARY:

The primary focus of this role is to support the social team in creating organic creative assets for owned channels, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and more. The Social Video Editor & Designer should live and breathe social media, with a deep passion for pop culture, trends, user experience, and innovation in the social and digital marketing space.

This individual must bring an elevated eye for graphic design, strong photo and video editing expertise (including viral, shareable formats and social series), and a sharp understanding of modern social consumer behavior and evolving platform algorithms. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and highly organized self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments, meets tight deadlines, and adapts quickly to the speed of social.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Design and produce social-first still assets (graphic design and photo editing) for product launches and cultural trends.
  • Edit and produce social-first video content for product campaigns and trending formats, including UGC, tutorials, product swatching, TikTok series (e.g., The Archives), and other viral formats.
  • Support the director across research, production, and post-production of social campaigns, including shot list development, creative/artistry briefs, asset organization, post-shoot shareouts, cadences, etc.
  • Assist with social video shoots in alignment with campaign creative direction, including photo capture, video, lighting, and audio support.
  • Ensure and develop elevated, visual and conceptual consistency across all social channels in line with brand and campaign strategy, while staying informed on upcoming initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the audience team to analyze content performance, refining graphic and video strategies to drive engagement and audience growth.
  • Maintain an informed perspective on the social media landscape, consumer behavior shifts, and emerging platform trends.
  • Apply strong knowledge of art direction, photography, and video editing to elevate creative execution.
  • Research and track industry trends, exploring emerging technologies and their creative applications.

POSITIONS REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA or BFA preferred
  • 3-4+ years of experience in digital/social video editing and graphic design
  • Proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop), Canva, and CapCut
  • Strong video editing, sound design, and animation skills
  • Advanced graphic design and typography skills
  • Skilled in photo and video capture, with on-set art direction experience
  • Strong knowledge of key social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest) and best practices for creating engaging, shareable content — including developing/writing compelling hooks
  • Proficient in editorial – including writing compelling and SEO-friendly social copy and captions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and deliver under tight deadlines
  • Deep understanding of fashion, beauty, cultural, and technological trends
  • Strong sense of humor and fluency in internet culture, including memes and TikTok trends
  • Ability to effectively translate brand vision and marketing strategies into viral visual content
  • Skilled collaborator with experience working across diverse disciplines
  • Local to NYC with ability to support event coverage on nights and weekends as needed
