Georgia Highlands College is a multi-campus, state college member of the University System of Georgia. Founded in 1970 as Floyd Junior College, it now serves more than 6,000 students in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama across its five locations in Rome, Cartersville, Marietta, and Dallas. Job Summary
This position will play a vital role in promoting Georgia Highlands College (GHC) by creating engaging and dynamic content to enhance student retention and recruitment efforts. The position is responsible for showcasing life at GHC through social media platforms, ensuring content stays on-brand and helps maintain top-of-mind awareness for the college. Work assignments and events may be scheduled on any GHC campus site.
Responsibilities
- Understand, support, and carry out the college’s mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
- Content Creation — Capture photos and videos at events, on-campus activities, and other college-related happenings.
- Content Creation — Create reels, YouTube Shorts, and other short-form video content highlighting GHC’s student experience.
- Social Media Management — Develop creative content strategies aligned with GHC branding guidelines.
- Social Media Management — Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to schedule and post content on GHC’s official social media platforms.
- Brand Representation — Serve as an ambassador for GHC, showcasing the college’s culture, diversity, and academic opportunities; ensure all content represents the values and mission of GHC.
- Analytics And Reporting — Track engagement metrics to identify successful content strategies; provide feedback to the Marketing team on student trends and preferences.
- Collaboration — Partner with students, faculty, and staff to identify key stories and events to highlight; attend GHC events to document and promote activities; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and current GHC undergraduate student with satisfactory academic progress (SAP) being met.
- Current-year FAFSA on file with verifications and any other requirements complete.
- Currently enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours (in most instances).
- Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study.
- Some prior experience is preferred but not required. Job-specific training will be provided.
Compensation
Proposed Salary — $12 per hour, up to 19 hours per week.

- Knowledge and ability to operate Microsoft Office.
- Critical thinking, decision making, problem solving within area of responsibility.
- Understanding of customer service with experience.
- Ability to follow specific directions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
- Ability to work independently on a task and utilize appropriate critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving within area of responsibility.
- Enthusiastic about social media trends, content creation, and digital marketing.
- Strong skills in photography, videography, and video editing (experience with Canva, Adobe Spark, or CapCut is a plus).
- Familiarity with major social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
