Overview

The Seneca Public Library District is seeking a detail-oriented Children Services Librarian responsible for all children services related activities including programming, outreach to local schools, and community partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and promote special programs for children.
  • Work with community partners to identify and support outreach programs for children.
  • Create library displays.
  • Provide circulation, reference, and computer assistance to patrons.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the Sierra library system and PrairieCat.
  • Participate in professional networking and development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year of library children services experience.
  • A minimum of one year of library patron services experience.
  • Understanding of patron demands and knowledge of children materials.
  • Knowledge of circulation and reference practices in an automated environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in cooperation with others.

Education Requirements

The position requires MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited program. Candidates with a degree in progress as well as holders of the LTA certificate or Bachelor’s degree with a library experience will be considered.
