Overview
We are seeking a Coordinator OR Manager to join our team at Henry Holt & Company. The ideal candidate will be detail‑oriented and experienced, crucial to managing the operational lifecycle of our catalog of 45–60 frontlist titles annually, as well as an extensive backlist of more than 3,000 titles. This role requires a blend of operational expertise and an understanding of the publishing workflow from acquisition to publication. The position will report to the Associate Publisher, working closely with them, and will also work with editorial, managing editorial and production, marketing, publicity, and art to ensure a seamless and efficient workflow.

Holt is growing its title count and broadening its list to publish across categories with an emphasis on editorial quality and ambition, as well as creative and dedicated publicity and marketing.
What you\'ll do
- Workflow and Calendar Management: Oversee and optimize the full publishing lifecycle for all frontlist and select backlist titles. Create and manage seasonal calendars, set agendas for imprint-wide meetings, and maintain all publishing schedules.
- Inventory and Financial Management: Work with the Associate Publisher to oversee inventory management for frontlist and backlist titles, attend weekly P&B (Print and Bind) meetings, and manage remainder processes.
- Data and Metadata Management: Use data to inform decisions, track KPIs, and prepare reports on production timelines and costs. Oversee launch and tip sheets to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with sales requirements. Coordinate with the central metadata team on regular metadata audits of Holt titles.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Partner with editorial and managing editorial on manuscript submission and delivery; work with art on cover and interior artwork; and collaborate with publicity and marketing on promotional materials and schedules. Manage internal publishing processes such as cover reveals, book club rollouts, embargoes, and stickering. Ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
- Rights Management: Oversee galley quantities and distribution. Manage permissions licenses and liaise with Legal and Contracts on reversions and cancellations.
What you\'ll bring
- 3+ years of experience in publishing operations or a related field, preferably within a commercial trade publisher.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong command of publishing software and systems (e.g., Biblio, Cognos, Therefore, RSuite, CoreSource) and project management tools.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to articulate complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to anticipate and resolve operational bottlenecks calmly and resourcefully.
- A flexible and adaptable mindset, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Based on level and years of experience, this role will have an annual salary of $60,000-$80,000.
