Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Team Lead, Technical Writing, the Technical Writer is responsible for identifying, creating, and managing industry-specific technical and non-technical documentation across various projects and platforms. This role involves writing and editing tasks to ensure high-quality, clear, and consistent user-friendly documentation. The Technical Writer will collaborate with software developers, project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to create technical and end-user documentation, including user manuals, technical specifications, API documentation, and other technical content.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure knowledge documentation assignments and projects are completed within agreed scope and timeline.
  • Develop and maintain style guides, templates, and documentation standards to ensure consistency across all published materials.
  • Create and maintain high-quality technical and non-technical documentation adhering to standard authoring guidelines.
  • Design, structure, and organize content in a logical order to convey knowledge concepts in a clear, concise, and user-friendly format for the target audience.
  • Use visuals following the style guide, including diagrams, screen captures, images, links, and tables to transfer complex information into a user-friendly format.
  • Apply distinctive styles based on content type (e.g., user manuals, technical specifications, API documentation, process documentation, self-service).
  • Use critical thinking to identify solutions and clarify issues until content is simplified for the target audience.
  • Follow article approval workflow to review format and validate content for publishing.
  • Identify and understand the target audience and create self-service knowledge opportunities for users to resolve issues.
  • Periodically review ticket data to identify knowledge opportunities and mature knowledge repositories.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to transfer knowledge into reusable documentation and promote a knowledge-sharing culture.
  • Act as a point of contact, partnering with SMEs to identify gaps and continuously improve content.
  • Encourage feedback from users to measure usefulness and reusability of content; work with SMEs to resolve knowledge issues.
  • Analyze user feedback to provide excellent customer service and enhance the customer experience.
  • Track knowledge tasks for input into progress reports.
  • Assist in creating customer self-service solutions and end-user documentation to effectively use products and services.
  • Stay abreast of new trends in technical writing and incorporate best practices into documentation processes.
  • Perform other knowledge-management activities as assigned.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support as required.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in technical writing.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills in technical documentation with attention to detail.
  • At least five years of experience in creating and managing technical documentation for software applications.
  • Experience in full SDLC with knowledge of Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience with knowledge documentation tools and platforms.
  • Proficiency with knowledge repositories, CMS, and version control systems.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a high degree of responsiveness.
  • Ability to multitask, collaborate, and work independently.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt and promote change.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to resolve problems and document solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Basic understanding of programming languages, software development, or engineering concepts is a plus.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Salary Range: $80,000.00 To 90,000.00 (USD) Annually
