Overview
Regional Communications Manager American Red Cross. The role plans and implements communications and marketing activities that drive business objectives and results, raise the visibility of the Red Cross mission, support revenue generation, and educate the public on how to access Red Cross services. Provide communication and marketing support and implement the strategic plan aligned with organizational priorities. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. All duties are performed in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable regulations. Must be comfortable reporting to the LA chapter office occasionally. The salary range for this position in California is $68,640 $69,200. Salaries are aligned to geographic location and additional factors may influence final compensation. This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and may be extended. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD
(Key Responsibilities) Work with leadership to execute media relations strategy by maintaining media relationships, writing and distributing news releases, and preparing media materials. Respond to local media inquiries and provide Red Cross approved information. May serve as a Red Cross spokesperson and train others. Execute a communications strategy to respond to support requests. Develop and implement strategic and change management communications to align with internal and external initiatives. Provide support for public affairs and communications activities. Build, train, engage, and supervise a team of communications and public affairs volunteers. Support social media engagement aligned with the organizational strategy. Produce content for web and social platforms. Coordinate cross-functional resources for marketing program development and delivery. Develop brand and creative content for external publications and media placements; pursue in-kind PSA placements. Marketing Support: Lead region-wide integrated campaigns with Field Marketing and Regional Financial Development. Encourage use of Brand Central for marketing assets. Internal Communications: Support development of strategic and change management communications. May be required to deploy to support disaster response operations (physical or virtual). What you need to succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
Education: Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills & Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication; AP Style; critical thinking and strategic planning; highly organized with multi-tasking ability; proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with media monitoring software (e.g., Cision/TrendKite); experience managing professional social media platforms; comfortable with website content management systems and marketing tools; willingness to serve as a media spokesperson; strong teamwork skills. Travel: 10% 25% travel may be required. What will give you the competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)
