A caregiver in this position works 12:30pm to 9:00pm. Weekends include potential alternating weekends in the future.

Pay

Base pay range: $15.00/hr - $18.44/hr

Responsibilities

  • Receive, record and respond to all phone calls, emergency calls and oxygen alarms.
  • Answer all incoming phone calls on a multi-function phone system.
  • Respond to general inquiries and calls for emergency requests, suspicious persons, medical emergencies, suicides, bomb threats, and other crisis calls.
  • Process calls according to given situation and determine priority and protocol to dispatch security personnel accordingly.
  • Operate Nortel console and paging systems; provide system usage information and assistance.
  • Notify proper personnel during traumas and medical emergencies; assist clinic personnel in contacting on-call physicians and staff physicians.
  • Provide outside callers with medical assistance by directing to appropriate service; handle messaging for staff physicians, residents, and other personnel.
  • Activate emergency code pagers and coordinate with responding personnel; assist as back-up for the security emergency line.
  • Process and distribute the on-call schedule weekly; ensure HIPAA compliance in handling patient information.
  • Perform other duties as required to support clinic operations.

Minimum qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Nortel console and paging equipment
  • Knowledge of placing local, long-distance and overseas calls; familiarity with directory information and oral paging
  • Knowledge of fax machines
  • Clear, concise speaking voice; strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in a medical/hospital environment
  • Prior call center experience
  • One year of switchboard experience
  • Experience with the Nortel phone system

Physical requirements

  • Ability to present information in written, auditory, or visual form; proficient spoken and written communication; telephone and manual dexterity skills
  • Typical physical demands include sitting for extended periods
  • Indoor work in air-conditioned environments

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Follows Standard Precautions using PPE as required for procedures

Pay range note

The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Compensation may be hourly or salary. Actual compensation will consider work history, experience, skills, and education. This does not include benefits such as healthcare, dental, vision and retirement.
