Job description

FLSA: Exempt

SALARY SCHEDULE: Competitive

SUPERVISOR: Director of private Elementary School

SUMMARY: Facilitate learning and teaching in an integrated, inclusive elementary classroom; plan and administer individual, small, and large group instruction. Design and implement student educational programs; support and follow through with individual educational goals and accommodations. Perform daily administrative functions including preparing class materials, facilitating personalized learning for students, analyzing student progress reports, participating in ongoing professional development, and performing other related duties. Communicate with school staff and/or student guardians regarding student progress; conduct parent conferences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job.

Facilitate student learning in large, small, and one-on-one environment. Create enclosing and conducive to learning climate in the classroom. [Daily]

Plan, implement, and monitor each student’s educational programs: course content, format, structure, schedule. [Daily]

Prepare weekly/monthly curriculum blueprints for instruction facilitation. [Weekly]

Evaluate, and maintain records for students’ e-portfolios of knowledge and skills assessments. Design tasks and projects for students to demonstrate their learning authentically in a variety of ways. Support every student with meaningful and timely feedback to propel learning and achievement. [Daily]

Facilitate and support an environment conducive to learning and growth; supervise student behavior and well-being. [Daily]

Attend and participate in meetings related learning plans. Support and follow through with students’ plans goals and accommodations by collaborating and planning with special education service providers, working individually or in small groups with students with learning plans goals, developing activities to meet the goals, etc. [Daily]

Communicate with parents/guardians about a student’s academic progress, social emotional development and needs. [Daily]

Prepare student progress reports and conduct parent conferences. [Quarterly]

Participate in professional development trainings and meetings, collaborate with other staff learning specialists. [Monthly]

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily]

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.

Criminal background check and fingerprinting required

Bachelor's degree

Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license

CDE Elementary Education (grades K-6) or Secondary Education (6-12) endorsement

Basic classroom management and planning skills

Basic organizational skills

Intermediate verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills

Ability to align curriculum and assessments with state content standards

Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement

Ability to assume leadership in the development and communication of programs and curriculum

Ability and desire to work as a team member

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups

Ability to serve as a role model for students

Ability to implement innovative teaching and learning strategies

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other qualifications relevant to the position that are strongly preferred but not mandatory for a candidate to be considered.

Formal education beyond a Bachelor’s degree

Three (3) years of successful elementary teaching experience

Experience working in the private education sector

Experience advising school clubs/co-curricular activities

Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
