JOB TITLE: Costume Craftsperson

ALTERNATE TITLES: Costume Crafts Technician, Crafts Artisan, Assistant Costume

Craftsperson REPORTS TO: Lead Costume Craftsperson, Costume Shop Manager, Production Manager

JOB TYPE: Seasonal, Salaried

GENERAL JOB STATEMENT: Assist the Lead Costume Craftsperson in the creation of costume crafts for all assigned shows.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and create costume design to create items needed for shows, including but not limited to: hats, jewelry, footwear, armor, foam structures, mechanical costumes, puppets, masks, belts, fans, and purses.
• Fabricate patterns for craft items.
• Perform fittings with actors.
• Maintain clean and safe workspace.
• Understanding of inventory and ability to modify stock items.
• Ability to complete assigned work in timely manner with a high level of quality.
• Any additional tasks as requested by the Lead Craftsperson, Costume Shop Manager, or the PM.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in theatrical costumes and crafts.
• Demonstrated experience with a variety of materials and crafts techniques.
• Experience with safe handling of hazardous materials and power tools.
• Ability to be fitted with and wear a respirator.
