Overview of Position
Under general supervision, receives and dispatches warehouse merchandise as appropriate, reconciles deliveries with purchase orders and verifies completeness/correctness of orders.
Essential Functions
5% Receives incoming merchandise, signs freight bills and delivery verifications, and records receipt of merchandise returned from District schools/programs.
40% Reconciles delivery of warehouse stock with purchase order forms, verifies quantity received is the same as that ordered, verifies stock number and ensures that stock reorder matches old warehouse stock, affixes appropriate catalog number to new stock, moves newly delivered merchandise to stocking area, approves purchase orders for payment and files filled purchase order forms.
40% Reconciles delivery of merchandise/equipment ordered by District schools/programs, requests stenciling/labeling of equipment as appropriate, repacks and addresses merchandise for delivery to schools/programs, and verifies completeness of delivery.
5% Receives merchandise returned from District schools/programs, checks quantity reported returned, verifies that merchandise returned matches current warehouse stock, and affixes catalog number and moves merchandise to stocking area or returns merchandise to vendor as appropriate.
5% Authorized to sign all purchase orders for payment, checks for damaged containers, and signs freight bills, alerts buyers about any problems with purchase orders, researches problem orders and follow through until a solution has been found, assists maintenance personnel in filling their orders, and completes all paperwork, and corrects problem orders that have been returned from schools, and returns to stock.
5% Order picking.
Other functions: Performs related duties as assigned.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving practices.
- Skills in basic computer operations.
- Skills in good communication.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Ability to operate forklift and electric jacks.
- Ability to drive onto trucks and unload merchandise.
- Ability to identify and check-in stock.
- Ability to package and ship freight back to vendors (U.P.S., Auto Freight, etc.).
- Ability to use computer to research orders and look up information.
- Ability to be detail-oriented.
- Ability to work as a team member.

Typical Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: Six (6) months work experience in retail clerking, warehousing and shipping, inventory maintenance, material handling equipment operations or equivalent.
Certifications & Licenses: Valid State of Washington Driver's license.
Clearances: Criminal Justice fingerprint background clearance.
Preferred: Valid Forklift/Mobile Equipment Operator Card.
