Overview

Audio-Visual Service Technician at Mesa Electronics, Inc. will perform field service from diagnosis to repair, with a special focus on Crestron, Extron, Bi-Amp, and QSC. Tasks include various installation duties for contracted audiovisual (AV) projects, such as pulling and terminating cables, installing system equipment and components, fabricating and wiring AV racks, and performing metal fabrication. The AV Technician will also support the project team by reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and assisting in selecting the Bill of Materials (BOM) during the RFP process. This role involves travel to job sites and may require working in construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform service tasks for audiovisual projects, including diagnostics, customer interaction, troubleshooting, and ensuring issues are resolved and closed.
  • Perform installation tasks for audiovisual projects, including pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projects, and executing metal fabrication as required.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints to facilitate precise installation and integration of AV systems.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to solder, crimp connectors, and perform other AV installation tasks.
  • Assist in basic mechanical fabrication and wiring of racks to contribute to project completion.
  • Travel to various job sites as necessary to carry out installations and support project requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and project objectives.
  • Assist engineers and programmers with minor programming changes and troubleshooting.
  • Review RFPs and assist the project team in selecting the BOM during the RFP process.
  • Conduct client training on installed systems.

Key Qualifications

  • 2 - 5 years of experience installing and integrating AV equipment from manufacturers such as Crestron, QSC, Biamp, and Extron.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in effectively communicating with employees, customers, and colleagues to ensure collaboration and project success.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and efficiently during installation procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, think critically, and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Computer knowledge to assist in project-related tasks and documentation.
  • Knowledge of complex wiring configurations and signal flow for audio, video, control, and network systems.
  • Ability to review RFPs and assist with BOM selection.
  • Familiarity with industry installation safety codes and standards.
  • Minor control system programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in audiovisual, electronics, or a related industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of industry-specific software or systems related to audiovisual installations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings or schematics.
  • Experience installing various video wall configurations (LCD, LED, projection) for optimal visual impact and functionality.
  • Experience installing and integrating PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras.
  • Familiarity with various audio and video signal types and their connections.
  • Technical certification or relevant coursework is preferred.
  • Skill in setting up and integrating video teleconferencing systems (VTC) across platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Cisco Webex.
