A Technician is responsible for the set up and operation of basic / small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.

Position Summary

Position Overview: A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic / small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Ensure a flawless event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
  • Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers; maintain positive relationships with clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment works properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; foster the hotel/client relationship.
  • Technical Ability: Understand technical aspects of the job; troubleshoot and solve equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Systems Knowledge: Follow company processes, complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment for setup and strike; interact with staff and vendors; utilize floor up-selling techniques; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries in Navigator as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree preferred.

  • External applicants must meet training and certifications required for this position within one year; see career path for technical external requirements.
  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
  • 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license required for team members that may operate Company vehicles; additional DOT requirements may apply.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Hotel: Work in a hotel/convention center environment with varying noise levels; potential exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand, and dust; use of high-end audiovisual equipment and electrical components; may work at multiple locations; irregular hours including on-call, days, evenings, weekends and holidays; appearance guidelines apply.

Warehouse: Work at event venues and warehouse environments; may travel; exposure to outdoor temperatures and dust; irregular hours and on-call status.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Pay Range: $19.00 - $22.18
