Note: This is a temp-to-perm Assistant Editor position based in NYC. You must be located in NYC and able to work in a hybrid capacity. The role reports to the Director of Post Production and supports a NY post production division in Manhattan near Bryant Park.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Editorial Team: Ingest, organize, and prepare footage and project files for editors working remotely on Adobe Premiere, ensuring assets are prepped and accessible via cloud/remote systems.
  • Remote Workflow Management: Facilitate post workflows between in-office and remote editors; troubleshoot issues with remote workflows and in-house infrastructure; collaborate with IT and management.
  • Project Management: Set up edit projects, maintain them, and close out projects; organize, back up files, transcode, sync, and manage media.
  • Media Management: Download, transcode, and organize media into projects; maintain clear project organization; upload viewable links for clients and management; deliver to varied client specifications.
  • Conform and Prep: Prepare and export sequences for color and audio finishing, perform basic conforms and online edits, provide reference materials.
  • Versioning and Delivery: Create multiple versions for network, streaming, and commercial clients; export and QC final deliverables across platforms and specs (including captions or network slates as needed).
  • Post Production Support: Help manage and improve post infrastructure as the NY facility grows; anticipate and troubleshoot evolving needs of a scaling team and new workflows.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Keep leadership informed of project status, challenges, and opportunities for efficiency; communicate with remote editors and producers.
  • Team Player: Collaborate across the team; adapt to shifting priorities and help shape the division’s culture and standards.
  • Asset Management & Archiving: Maintain accurate archival records; securely manage sensitive assets.

Who You Are and What You Have

  • 1–3 years of professional experience in post-production, editorial, or related environments (agency, studio, or production company).
  • New York-based, able to be in the Manhattan office a minimum of 4 days per week during the introductory period, with a hybrid schedule after full-time employment.
  • Proficient with Adobe Premiere; strong working knowledge of Davinci Resolve for syncing dailies and color prep; some experience with After Effects and other Adobe CC apps is a plus.
  • Experience prepping and finishing promos, multi-format edits, and multi-cam setups.
  • Strong understanding of remote editing platforms (e.g., JUMP), cloud workflows, and troubleshooting remote post production on Mac and PC.
  • Knowledge of transcoding, codecs, and storage solutions; excellent problem-solving and adaptability for broadcast, streaming, and advertising deliverables.
  • Meticulous, organized, self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; comfortable collaborating with creatives, producers, and technologists.
  • Interest in helping build new processes in a scaling division with a flexible, all-hands-on-deck mindset.
  • Mac & PC savvy; comfortable with Slack, Google Drive/Workspace, and related tools; willingness to learn and grow.

Compensation: The base rate for this position is $35-$40/hr. This range is posted in compliance with state and municipal pay transparency laws.
