Overview
Prince William Public Libraries is seeking an energetic and innovative Youth Services Librarian to join our team at Central Library. About This Role
- Assisting with, planning, and conducting library programs for children and teens.
- Training, scheduling, and assigning tasks and opportunities for teen volunteers and interns.
- Assisting patrons of all ages with information and circulation inquiries.
- Providing Reader’s Advisory and technology assistance.
- Assists with collection maintenance, maintaining Children’s and Teen items.
- May serve as a passport acceptance agent.
- Collaborates with RELIC, Adult Services, and Central’s Makerspace to create interesting programs for teens and families.
- Creating displays and promotional materials in support of the branch’s Youth Services Programming.
- Represents Prince William Public Libraries at outreach events.
- Serves as a person in charge when necessary
Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree in library or information science.
Preferences
- Customer service experience in a library, bookstore, or retail setting.
- Experience with customer service skills to aid diverse populations.
- Experience working with children and teenagers.
- Experience creating successful tween and teen programs.
- Experience providing programs to children and presenting story times.
- Experience providing reader’s advisory to children, teens, and families.
- Experience with Community Outreach.
- Experience supervising teen volunteers.
- Experience assisting patrons with computers, printers, copies, scanners, tablets, and e-readers.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Teams and Webex
Special Requirements: The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week position. The schedule will include days, one evening a week and rotating Saturdays. Central Library is open Monday - Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Hiring Salary Range: $65,910-$79,408.88 / yearly
