WHAT YOU'LL DO
Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non-Contact/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating the attainment of their academic or vocational objectives. Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment in accordance with Education Code section 87482.5.
This applicant pool will be used to fill a part-time Instructor in Music vacancy at Moorpark College for the Spring 2026 semester. The initial focus of this assignment will be teaching Applied Music - Voice. WHERE YOU'LL WORK
Moorpark College, one of three colleges in the Ventura County Community College District, serves approximately 15,000 students. The college emphasizes a with-a-student-first philosophy and offers programs across transfer, basic skills, career education, and more. Moorpark College is located on 150 acres in the foothills of Ventura County, roughly 40 miles from UCLA and 75 miles from UC Santa Barbara, with nearby access to CSU Northridge, CSU Channel Islands, and California Lutheran University. The college has received recognition including being named an Aspen Prize Finalist in 2023 and ranked fourth in the nation by the Aspen College Excellence Program, and has been recognized as a Champion of Higher Education by the Campaign for College Opportunity in recent years. It supports diverse programs across visual and performing arts, nursing, radiation technology, biotechnology, and more, including the Teaching Zoo. The Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) is a public community college district serving residents of Ventura County. The district comprises Moorpark College, Oxnard College, and Ventura College, offering transfer programs, career technical training, basic skills instruction, and community services. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors, defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.
Master’s in music OR Bachelor’s in music AND Master’s in humanities OR the equivalent. All coursework must be from an accredited college or university. If education was completed outside the United States, see the Foreign Transcripts section for details.
Equivalency information and process are described for candidates whose transcripts do not list the exact degree title as stated above. If applicable, submit the Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency for review by the District-wide Equivalency Committee.

COMPENSATION AND ACCOMMODATIONS
Starting salaries for Part-Time (PT) Faculty are based on education and experience, with initial placement within the starting salary range. Salary details and the relevant contract information are provided in the AFT contract and related salary placement explanations. PT faculty pay per semester for a 10% load ranges from $2,408 to $3,108. A verification of all part-time teaching experience may be requested for placement on the salary schedule, with a 30-day verification window after offer of employment.
