The International Ocean Film Foundation (IOFF) is recruiting for a Communications & Marketing Committee Chair to oversee all marketing and communication channels to increase brand awareness of the IOFF and increase public participation. Board candidates with at least 3-5 years of board member experience are encouraged to apply. Launched in 2004, the IOFF is an ocean conservation advocacy organization using the power of storytelling through independent film to raise awareness to protect our oceans. We produce year-round programming, including a premier film festival each spring with a strong commitment to inspire the next generation of ocean conservationists by offering a Free Ocean Film Education Program for middle and high school students. The role of an IOFF Board Director is to promote and endorse the IOFF efforts throughout the communities it serves, and act in a judicious manner and in accordance with fiduciary responsibility for the organization. As a volunteer team, the Board of Directors is responsible for using its network to advance ocean conservation by supporting the organization's pillars of ocean education. We achieve this by organizing a world-class environmental film festival, securing industry thought leaders and speakers, expanding our global audience base and empowering youth with opportunities. Board members volunteer their time, skills, and knowledge to promote the foundation to their personal and professional networks, provide strategic guidance and create their own initiatives and partnerships to fundraise and increase awareness about the organization’s mission and its programs. The Board of Director volunteer role commitment is a four-year term with an annual financial obligation. Specific roles and responsibilities include the following. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITES Develop a comprehensive three-to-five-year Communications & Marketing plan for the purposes of promoting the IOFF year-round, designed to increase overall participation in all IOFF events, such as the annual film festival and the annual fundraising benefit. Working with current Board Members develop brand messaging to convey across all marketing and social media platforms and outlets. Develop a Communications & Marketing volunteer committee to assist with executing aspects of the C&M plan as needed. Oversee Communications & Marketing across the following channels: newsletter, website, social media, and other points of engagement. Create specific campaigns oriented toward a specific goal(s). Identify cross marketing opportunities with ocean related non-profit organizations and other current partners, while targeting new potential partners nationwide and globally. Meet the goals of the Board Member term and commitment as an IOFF representative in the community. EXPERIENCE Strategic communication and marketing experience in either the non-profit or for-profit space. Experience in developing a robust, multi-channel communications branding plan that is event oriented. Knowledge of social media trends and SEO best practices to increase participation. Leadership experience in recruiting and working with a small team of dedicated volunteers to carry out the goals of the membership program.
