Overview

Position Overview: A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic / small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
  • Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain a positive relationship with all clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and the equipment setup is working properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; understand and foster the hotel/client relationship.
  • Technical Ability: Understand technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Systems Knowledge: Understand company processes, follow procedures, and complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment scheduled for setup and strike; interact with other staff and outside vendors for equipment; increase revenue by utilizing floor up-selling techniques; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries in Navigator as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.

  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
  • 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license required for team members who may operate Company vehicles.
  • Additional DOT requirements may apply if applicable.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. Working conditions range from moderately quiet to noisy. Team members will use high-end AV equipment and electrical components and may work at multiple hotel locations. Irregular hours, on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Appearance guidelines must be followed as defined by Encore per hotel or area.

Hourly Pay Range: $15.09 - $18.49. Compensation is based on location, travel, relevant experience, and skills; some positions may include overtime, bonuses, or incentives.
