Overview
Loci Architecture is seeking an experienced architect to join our team and help expand its capacity in the planning, design, and construction of primary, secondary, and higher education facilities; private residences; and building envelope restorations. We are also actively pursuing growth in the multi-family housing and cultural sectors. This is a full-time, in-office position focused on coordinating all efforts in order to ensure high quality project execution and sustainable office economic performance. The Studio Director will present strong and consistent office leadership, articulate the firm’s vision, embrace project and administrative challenges as opportunities for firm growth, demonstrate collaborative skills, and work with the firm’s partners to expand our portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with the Partners, supervise the team, and interact with support consultants (HR, bookkeeping, etc.).
- Pursue opportunities and work with the firm leadership to identify major business initiatives that will elevate the firm’s profile in primary, secondary, and higher education facilities; private residences; building envelope restorations; multi-family housing; and cultural projects.
- Effectively communicate with all clients on scheduling of deliverables, fee structures, and additional services.
- Oversee all project teams to ensure budgets and design goals are established, schedules are maintained, quality control processes are implemented, client and consultant contractual requirements are fulfilled, and deliverables are accurate across all trades.
- Estimate project fees, develop clear scopes of services, prepare proposals and contracts, and identify project teams and roles.
- Manage staffing resources and conduct employee reviews with the Studio Principal.
- Maintain a strong presence in professional networks and organizations.

Qualifications
- Licensed to practice architecture in New York State.
- At a minimum, 15-20 years overall experience in New York City architectural offices since earning a professional degree.
- A Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture degree in the United States or equivalent degree earned in a foreign country.
- LEED Green Associate, LEED AP, and/or Passive House certified.
- Experience with the current New York City Building Code, Zoning Resolution, Energy Code, and DOB filing documents and procedures.
- Expertise in producing accurate design and construction document sets.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and related digital tools.
- Strong knowledge of detailing, materials, and building systems.
- Must be comfortable working on-site in the office, and performing regular field visits.
