About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chair for its Department of Communication. The successful candidate will serve a five-year administrative term, with the possibility of renewal, and will be expected to provide leadership in teaching, scholarship, and administration. This role involves being the chief academic, administrative, and financial officer of the department, with responsibilities that include course assignments, instructional workload, scheduling, and overseeing the faculty and staff. The Chair will also be involved in strategic planning, budgeting, and serving as a liaison to various academic and community entities. A strong commitment to academic excellence and the ability to support an open and inclusive environment are essential. Candidates for the Chair position must have a Ph.D. or equivalent, a proven track record of research excellence, and the capacity to lead in scholarship, teaching, administration, and institution-building. The role requires a visionary leader who can articulate and implement plans for the future of the department, with a focus on graduate and undergraduate education, research, community outreach, and staff relations. The ideal candidate will have a background in the relevant academic field and be prepared to engage in the full range of departmental activities, including the hiring and promotion processes. The Chair will be expected to work closely with the Dean and other members of the College of Arts and Humanities, and to ensure that the department's mission and vision align with those of the College and the University.
