Documentation & Technical Writing Manager
Remotely in the US (Eastern time zone preferred).
Documentation is among the most critical content for Grafana users. As a Documentation and Technical Writing Manager, you will guide the direction and enhancement of our documentation, manage a team of Technical Writers, and collaborate with engineering and other internal and external groups to define deliverables, priorities, and processes. You will contribute to writing/editing and drive process improvements, with ownership in improving our documentation site and identifying documentation needs across the organization.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Understand gaps in current documentation and plan for scale
- Establish best practices within the technical writing team to meet documentation needs across projects and products
- Manage a team of technical writers
- Collaborate with the technical writing management team and stakeholders to support a content strategy across types (blogs, video, etc.)
- Develop content to help users succeed with our products using our technical documentation
- Support a transparent project management process for internal stakeholders to track updates
- Balance workloads, manage priorities, and prevent over-resourcing

- Experience leading and writing high-quality developer documentation in a dynamic environment
- Experience working with engineering and other groups to define deliverables, priorities, and processes

- Ability to understand organizational needs and develop plans to prioritize high-priority feature release work
- Experience managing remotely across global time zones
- Experience as a technical writer on developer documentation
- Experience with open source communities
- Ability to advocate for the technical writing discipline with internal stakeholders
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with docs-as-code, Markdown, Git, GitHub, and project management tools

Compensation and Benefits: In the US, the base compensation range for this role is $139,572 - $167,486. Actual compensation varies by level, experience, and skills assessed during interviews. All roles include RSUs. Compensation ranges are country-specific where applicable; recruiters will discuss market pay ranges at the start of the process.
