Role: Grant Writer (Volunteer) | Reports to: Director of Development | Location: Remote, based in Houston, TX | Schedule/Commitment: Flexible schedule with an average commitment of 10-15 hours per week. Research funding opportunities/grants and funding sources. Match grant opportunities to the needs, mission, vision, and goals of the organization. Understand funder requirements. Create and adapt grant proposals to the needs of each funder; revise and proofread proposals for clarity and alignment with funder priorities. Develop budgets alongside the Finance and Project teams. Engage with stakeholders to obtain information and align project goals. Maintain open communication with funders to keep projects running. Track applications, deadlines, and outcomes; craft progress and final reports to meet funder requirements. Support the leadership team with additional tasks as needed. Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience: Graduation in Communications, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related fields. Previous experience with Grant Writing and proven success in securing funding through grants. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms. Nice to Have Qualifications
Knowledge of funding opportunities in the area. Preferred Personal Attributes
