Overview
Montgomery College is seeking three (3) full-time Communication Studies faculty members to start in January 2026. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.
Our Communication Studies faculty teach in a high-enrollment Associate of Arts program with more than 350 majors. The department offers an interdisciplinary Certificate in Business Communication. We are seeking faculty who are committed to student success and excellence in teaching, with the ability to engage and motivate students across multiple instructional modes.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support MC’s commitment to radical inclusion and work with students with diverse learning abilities. Duties include classroom instruction, assessment, curriculum development, advising, serving on campus and departmental committees and task forces, and ongoing professional development. Regular teaching assignments may include face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses during days, evenings, and weekends, and may be located at any MC campus, the East County Education Center, or area high schools. Faculty may teach multi-section courses, requiring close coordination with other program faculty and adherence to common course assignments. The majority of courses use open educational resources (OERs). Incoming faculty will use OERs in alignment with other discipline faculty.
Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or blended formats during days, evenings, and weekends. Faculty may be assigned to any MC campus, center, or area high schools and/or teach online.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Communication Studies with emphasis in public speaking, small group communication, business communication, and intercultural communication
- College-level teaching experience in communication studies
- Demonstrated ability to use an educational enterprise platform such as Blackboard
- Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Communication Studies, Human Communication, or closely related field
- Expertise in interpersonal communication, small group communication, public speaking, and intercultural communication
- Experience supporting students with varying levels of college readiness
- Experience teaching a diverse population including native and non-native English speakers
- Experience with open educational resources and technology-enabled instruction
- Experience assessing student learning outcomes; ongoing professional development

Hiring Range
$63,254 - $96,299
