Overview
Senior Growth Editor at Mercury. This role is part of Mercury’s Stories team within the Brand organization, focused on connecting with ambitious founders and entrepreneurs through multiformat content and cross-functional collaboration.
You’ll join a high-leverage, cross-functional team to sharpen editorial direction and extend content impact. You’ll create and amplify content that drives traction across formats such as blog posts, editorial series, newsletters, video and audio, and other resources. You’ll work with Brand / Stories, Growth, Product Marketing, and other teams to bring content to life with a strategic yet high-creative bar.

This role involves some travel within the United States
Responsibilities
- Help drive forward a focused editorial direction for Mercury’s blog, resonating with our founder audience and aligning with growth and brand goals.
- Partner with SEO and Growth Marketing to translate keyword opportunities into compelling, differentiated content ideas; manage freelancers or your own writing to bring ideas to life.
- Write, edit, storyboard, and produce cornerstone content in support of campaigns, growth experiments, and thought leadership.
- Maximize content distribution by collaborating with Growth, Social, and Community teams to expand reach and performance.
- Lead or contribute to special content projects (e.g., founder-focused reports, podcast and video pilots).
- Contribute to editorial operations with a strategic lens to make content development smarter and more scalable.
- Surface performance insights to help the team understand what works and where to double down.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience in content, editorial, brand, and/or growth, ideally with startups/entrepreneurs/creators or financial services.
- A track record of creating content that drives measurable business outcomes.
- Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to make complex ideas accessible and engaging.
- Experience with formats beyond the blog (video, podcasts, data storytelling, infographics, virtual events, emails, social).
- Experience managing freelance contributors.
- Strong familiarity with SEO, analytics, and the content funnel; eager to experiment and optimize.
- Comfort working in a remote-first, async environment with tools like Google Docs, Asana, and Slack.
Bonus points for
- Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy industries (e.g., fintech, finance, health).
- Familiarity with legal/compliance review processes for marketing content.
- A portfolio that showcases editorial sharpness, bold creativity, audience empathy, and measurable results.
Compensation and Benefits
The total rewards package includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits. Salary ranges are updated using compensation survey data and depend on location and experience.
Target base salary ranges:
- US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $153,800 - 192,300
- US employees outside these areas: $138,500 - 173,100
- Canadian employees (any location): CAD $145,400 - 163,500
