Overview
Assist to manage and supervise up to 80 associates in the Fresh Foods Department. Is responsible for assisting the Department Manager with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Harris Teeter's policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties of baker/fryer, cake decorator, Fresh Foods clerks; and chef.
- Interview and train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; assist in appraising performance; reward and discipline associates; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Assist to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and standards.
Qualifications
- SUPERVISORY SKILLS: Commitment to unparalleled customer service; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; willingness to advance store’s position in the community; participate in training and team orientation; ability to manage multiple tasks; work effectively under pressure; demonstrate patience.
- EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PERSONAL SKILLS: Commitment to customer service; excellent communication; willingness to complete required training; work with team to increase customer satisfaction and sales.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information to English-speaking customers, clients, and associates.
- COMPUTER SKILLS: Knowledge of HT Internet software; e-mail; inventory software; spreadsheet and word processing software.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic arithmetic with money, weights, volumes, and distances.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and solve problems with several variables in standardized situations.
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, TRAINING: Complete company training including new hire orientation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and department manager training.
