Studio Assistant / Youth and Family Engagement

The Cleveland Museum of Art seeks a Studio Assistant to provide hands-on assistance with material and room preparation, set-up, program facilitation, and clean-up for Studio and Youth and Family Programs. In addition, Studio Assistants may also provide technology support during virtual studio classes for adults and children.

Responsibilities

• Youth and Family Programming: Engage family audiences in social artmaking and community-building creative experiences at CMA. Communicate gracefully and tactfully with visitors, colleagues, staff from other community partners and facilitators. Model play and experimentation with materials and topics related to CMA’s permanent collection and special exhibitions.
• Programs Include: Play Days (Second Sunday of every month); My Very First Art Class (Friday and Saturday mornings); Summer Creativity Camps (Monday through Friday, summer); Open Studios (Every Sunday, all year); Family Workshops (Weekends); Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration.

Requirements and Key Competencies

• High school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license or other official form of identification.
• Experience with studio art, art education, and working with the public, including school-aged children preferred.
• University students enrolled in studio, art history, or art education programs are encouraged to apply.
• Effective communication and ability to work well with others.

Hourly wage: $15.00/hour, working 15 hours a week.
