LOCATION: Salford
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £45,000 p.a. depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose of the Role

Join the award-winning BBC News & Current Affairs team creating narrative and news podcasts, visualised audio content, audio documentaries, and landmark audio series for Radio 4, World Service, BBC News, and BBC Sounds. As a Junior Production Manager, reporting into the Unit Manager - you’ll play a key role in shaping our production management processes, helping deliver operational excellence across a wide range of programmes in line with BBC News & Current Affairs strategies.

Your Key Responsibilities and Impact

  • Line management of production management apprentices and PMAs
  • Managing commissioning workflows, ensuring timely delivery of budgets; monthly business reporting and greenlight packs
  • Collaborating with Senior Editorial to track and maintain staffing rotas
  • Managing and forecasting budgets across multiple productions
  • Supporting production teams with logistical and operational needs

Your Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience managing and forecasting production budgets
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with BBC systems
  • Excellent IT proficiency, particularly in Excel
  • Experience supporting production teams on foreign deployments

Desired but Not Essential

  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment
  • Understanding of greenlight and commissioning processes
  • Some HR and line management experience
