Overview
Machine Operator - Video Inspection Unit — City of Bay City, Michigan. This is a full-time position in the Waste Water Treatment Plant - Sewer Department - U.W.U.A. Local 542. This is a skilled position involving the operation and care of the Sewer Department's video inspection and locating equipment, including the minicam mainline inspection unit and our manual cameras and locating systems. Work involves the safe and efficient operation of camera inspection equipment used for evaluating the City's collection system (313 miles of storm, sanitary, and combined sewers).
Responsibilities
- Operate a Minicam mainline inspection unit.
- Operate manual "push style" camera systems.
- Operate a variety of locating equipment and tools.
- Record and store mainline sewer and storm video footage using the provided reporting software.
- Record and store manual camera footage using the provided software.
- Perform dye testing to confirm sewer leads and other connections.
- Work with contractors and residents to identify tap and lead locations.
- Code video footage using the industry standard Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP), Lateral Assessment Certification Program (LACP), and Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP) methods.
- Operate other related sewer department equipment when necessary.
- Make independent judgements related to work practices, techniques, and project delivery.
- Change attachments on equipment, perform field adjustments, lubricate, fuel, and clean equipment as needed.
- Be willing and able to be on call during the regular work week, including weekends, and report for work after hours if needed.
- Perform duties of Senior Maintenance Worker and General Maintenance Equipment Operator as needed.
- Work with Bay City Wastewater Treatment Plant staff when needed.
- Follow proper safety work methods and procedures.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver's license with a CDL "B" endorsement.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience and knowledge of a mainline camera system is preferred.
- Must currently hold certifications in PACP, LACP, and MACP.
- A valid State of Michigan Industrial Storm Water Operator Certification is required.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of Pipe Logic, Pro Pipe, Microsoft, Rigid, Cues, City Works and related software.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions for operating assigned equipment.
- Ability to understand and develop maps/drawings/blueprints/GIS mapping of sewer infrastructure.
- Ability to make operating adjustments and recognize operating deficiencies in equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, and the public.
- Must maintain licenses and certifications to retain the position.
- Must wear protective footwear (steel-toe or equivalent) per MIOSHA regulations and ensure footwear meets ANSI standards.
Salary: $23.48 per hour.
