Overview
The Department of Film and Digital Arts at the University of New Mexico invites applications for the position of Department Administrator A2. We are seeking a professional, energetic, and self-motivated individual. Our department serves approximately 713 undergraduate majors and offers a BFA in film production and a BA with concentrations in film production, gaming, animation, and film history/criticism. The department includes 11 full-time faculty, 30 adjunct faculty, 4 full-time and 10 part-time staff, and is housed in multiple facilities with classrooms, computer labs, equipment check-out spaces, editing rooms, a movie theater, a black-box studio, and offices. The Department Administrator oversees and manages all fiscal and budgetary activities of the department, including instructional and general operating funds, course and tech fees, grants and overhead, and non-endowed and endowed spending. This role also manages HR activities for faculty and staff, course scheduling, curriculum updates, and acts as building manager. Additionally, the position involves developing operating policies and procedures in collaboration with the Chair and implementing short- and long-range goals. The Department Administrator participates with the Chair and senior departmental faculty in strategic and operational decision making as a member of the departments leadership team. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Interpersonal flexibility to work well as a team member with diverse groups of people. Experience with HR processes including hiring faculty and staff, disciplinary action, job reclassification, salary adjustments, etc. Three years working in a supervisory position in an academic department, including hiring, managing, and training staff and/or students. Proficiency in Banner Finance (or equivalent management system), including but not limited to all purchasing and reporting functions as well as knowledge of university policies and procedures involving procurement, travel, and employment. Experience in building coordination including working with Facilities Management to address immediate and long-term building concerns. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management, as well as ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. An enthusiasm for film education. Additional Requirements
