Overview The School of Professional Studies is seeking an adjunct instructor to develop and teach the new course Professional Communication for Life Sciences II for a planned undergraduate degree in life sciences. The course will be offered in an online, synchronous, semester-based format geared toward part-time, adult undergraduate students. It builds on Professional Communication for Life Sciences I, focusing on advanced communication strategies in biopharma and biomanufacturing. Students will engage with complex scenarios, refine writing and presentation abilities, and develop critical thinking for diverse professional interactions. The course emphasizes clear, concise, and impactful communication, integrating best practices and industry-specific documentation. Responsibilities Work with assigned course designer to develop content (assignments, presentations, readings, discussion boards, quizzes, exams) as needed. Develop and provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria. Deliver course instruction, using the University learning management system and digital tools. Use the University\'s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, and other materials and to communicate with students. Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by video conference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms. Provide service, including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and collaboration towards a new certificate in life sciences industry fundamentals. Maintain communication with the Program Director and Assistant Dean, identifying any students of concern and relaying student progress. Maintain a presence in the course as directed by the Program Director, including answering student emails promptly, participating in interactive course elements where necessary. Ensure the course meets the high-quality standards of other MCPHS online and on-campus courses. Identify tactics to improve the course based on feedback. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor. Requirements Advanced degree in related field Previous experience teaching and/or developing courses to undergraduate students in adult, part-time, or online programs Previous experience in the life sciences Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills A commitment to student success and the ability to engage and motivate students Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents) Experience with a learning management system, such as Blackboard Experience with video-conferencing platforms, such as Zoom Apply Please attach a cover letter and a curriculum vitae/resume.
