Position Information
Adjunct/Part-Time Faculty position in the Department of Communication Studies, College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences (Col) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This is a temporary, part-time teaching appointment for a specific course or courses for a semester. Hours per week vary.
Responsibilities
- Develop and/or update course syllabus; prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
- Meet all designated class periods and maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner; submit mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University policy.
Qualifications
- Faculty teaching undergraduate courses: doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.
- Faculty teaching graduate courses: earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the highest earned degree in the discipline.
- Competence, effectiveness, and capacity considerations may include related work experience, professional licensure and certifications, honors and awards, and documented excellence in teaching.
Departmental Preferred Experience
- Experience teaching COMM 2195 (Principles of Public Relations) or related public relations/business communication topics is preferred.
- Relevant professional experience in these areas will be considered.

- These positions are temporary and do not accrue benefits.
