Responsibilities
- Develop live theatre pieces from beginning to end.
- Supervising, guiding and encouraging young performers with a variety of abilities.
- Communicating with after school counselors, parents/guardians, regarding any updates about the students or class.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Teaching Artists are desired to work afterschool throughout the school year.
- We are looking for educators to work roughly 1-3 enrichment classes per week.
- Classes are generally about 1.5-2 hours long and run for 9 or 10 weeks.
- Educators get 5 hours of prep work for musicals and 3 hours for plays for the entire duration of the program.
- Educators must be over 18 years of age and have reliable transportation to and from schools in the Seattle area.
- Most classes are taught by only one lead teaching artist, potentially with an additional educator if the class is particularly large (approx. 14 or more).
- Educators will be expected to work at any of our partner schools, unless specific accommodations are made before-hand.
- Employee agrees to teach all camps and classes scheduled, following the Stone Soup Theatre Standards.
- Teaching Artists should have some experience working with children and either be completing a theatre or education degree, be a theatre or education graduate, or have significant theatre experience.
*Exact pay rates TBD. Historically, enrichment lead instructor rates are higher than SummerStage rates.
