NewsNation is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to be part of a bold team of in-house designers in downtown Chicago, Illinois. We’re looking for a self-motivated senior designer with proven skills focusing on typography and composition for broadcast design, video, social media, and print needs.
The ideal candidate is a master at designing daily news graphics in Photoshop, capable of creating complex designs, and can produce effective logo designs in Illustrator. Additionally, the candidate should execute intermediate to advanced motion graphics in AfterEffects. Working effectively under tight deadlines and possessing quick problem-solving skills are essential. The candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in broadcast news, whether at a local or national network level. Similar experience in broadcast entertainment, post-production, or a comparable design industry is considered a plus.
- Advanced graphic design and typography skills are required.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is required.
- Strong layout and composition skills are required.
- Advanced photo manipulation skills using Photoshop are required.
- Intermediate to advanced motion design skills using AfterEffects are required.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Unconventional work hours may be required.
- Ability to quickly and effectively translate top news stories into compelling graphic designs.
- High-level ability to design for broadcast, print, and digital media.
- Ability to work solo or collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to share ideas, technical, and creative concepts with team members.
- Ability to follow brand standards and design workflow protocols.
- Skills in InDesign, Keynote, PowerPoint, Cinema 4D, and Premiere are a plus.
- Willingness to work on weekends, early mornings, or unconventional hours. Holiday work may be required. Hybrid remote work is possible after initial training.
Additional duties may include photography, photo editing, print and large-format design, environmental design, projection mapping, web and social media design, onboarding new team members, and other design-related tasks as needed for specific projects.
Requirements include an undergraduate degree in graphic arts or equivalent experience. Candidates must provide a link to an online portfolio for consideration.
This position reports to the Creative Director. Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000.
