Position Overview
The Marketing Manager at Shedd is passionate, creative, highly curious, and experienced. This role will oversee and execute the day-to-day responsibilities across paid and owned marketing channels at Shedd Aquarium. This position will work with the Director of Digital Marketing to develop marketing strategies that drive revenue and create engaging experiences for paid audiences, website visitors and email subscribers. This position will leverage their marketing execution expertise and build strategy knowledge to support the organization’s goals, amplify our mission, impact and offerings, and expand and diversify current and future audiences. This is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking, hands-on, results-driven, and highly collaborative team. This individual will oversee the day-to-day management of Shedd’s website, email and paid media requests, as well as ensuring email and web best practices are followed throughout the organization. This role will live within Shedd’s External Affairs & Marketing (EAM) division but will work cross-functionally with other teams such as Ancillary, Learning and Community, Design and Exhibits, Guest Relations, and Development. This role is responsible for putting together and overseeing marketing campaign strategy proposals for internal teams (clients) at Shedd. This role will lead coordination across PR, social, content and external partners to ensure that the full scope of EAM work is represented within ongoing strategic and tactical plans. The Marketing Manager will consider the audience persona journeys when building campaigns, sharing how EAM will help internal Shedd programs drive awareness, engagement, and revenue for Shedd programs. Once campaigns have been finalized, the Marketing Manager will assist in facilitating, launching and monitoring campaign performance. The Marketing manager will then build EAM campaign recaps, providing data to internal clients on how their campaigns performed. The right candidate should be comfortable finding innovative ways to drive revenue, engage paid and owned audiences and possess the ability to think both creatively and analytically. This person needs to ensure EAM communication is consistent across the organization, content is on-brand and tailored for various audiences and key programs are being promoted for consistent year-over-year revenue growth.

Oversee and manage day-to-day marketing campaign strategy proposals for internal teams (clients) at Shedd, coordinating across PR, social, content and external partners. Lead the development and tracking of audience journeys to drive awareness, engagement and revenue for Shedd programs. Facilitate, launch and monitor campaign performance; develop EAM campaign recaps with performance data for internal clients. Ensure email and website best practices are followed and content is on-brand for various audiences. Oversee website content requests, updates to pages, and support landing page strategy with the design team. Create and execute external email communications; manage build/review processes, tracking, and best practices; optimize email strategies and guest/member experience (Previsit, Welcome Series, etc.). Coordinate with external agencies, track performance, and collaborate on optimization and testing plans. Ensure data hygiene across channels and standardized naming conventions; manage tracking and reporting (UTM, pixels, GA, etc.). Represent the EAM department on internal planning teams as needed. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, or communications Experience: 5+ years in a marketing role or agency experience At least 2 years\' experience overseeing and coaching direct reports Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities on tight timelines Ability to manage up and work with multiple stakeholders across the company Knowledge of digital marketing and segmentation Excellent writing and communication skills Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools for the website Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) Experience with Google Analytics and/or other web analytics platforms Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) Working knowledge of HTML and email software Knowledge of data visualization/BI tools (Tableau, Sisense, Looker Studio) Experience with traditional media channels is a plus Experience placing pixels, tagging and tracking tactics Attributes
