Overview

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an Ocular Oncology Ophthalmologist to join the Retina Division within the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Division Director and/or Department Chair is responsible for determining the work assignments. Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Clinical services are a component of faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee. There will be opportunities to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and education initiatives, or other activities consistent with the faculty assignment. Faculty members are expected to teach, which may include clinical or didactic teaching and may involve medical students, residents, fellows, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows. Service commitments will include service at OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned. Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected. Participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations is also expected.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Due to contractual agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. citizenship is required for participation in this role.
  • Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment and be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Qualified candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and have completed an approved residency program in Ophthalmology, as well as subspeciality fellowship training in Retina.
  • Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and academic credentials.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of Ocular Oncology.
  • Demonstrated interest in scholarship and discovery by evidence of basic and/or clinical applied research and publications.
  • Commitment to residents, fellows, and medical students is required.
