Overview

Join Mercury as a Sr. Growth Editor to help sharpen our content engine’s strategic edge and extend its impact. You’ll bring editorial instincts, an understanding of how content drives results, and enthusiasm for building content that delivers measurable value to founders and to the business. This is a high-leverage, cross-functional role for a sharp editor and versatile full-stack content strategist. You’ll focus on creating and amplifying content that drives traction — including blog posts, editorial series, newsletters, video and audio, creative tools and resources, and more. You’ll collaborate with Brand / Stories, Growth, and Product Marketing to shape and execute special content projects, moving from big ideas to final execution with a strong creative bar.

And you’re excited to move quickly — you’re not afraid to get scrappy to get things into market, test, and learn, balancing big swings with rapid progress. This role involves some travel within the United States.

  • Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided by Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust; Members FDIC.

What you’ll do

  • Help drive forward a focused editorial direction for Mercury’s blog, creating dynamic content that resonates with our founder audience and ladders up to growth and brand goals.
  • Partner with SEO and Growth Marketing to translate keyword opportunities and topic clusters into compelling, differentiated content ideas — and help bring them to life with freelancers or your own pen.
  • Write, edit, storyboard, and produce cornerstone content, especially in support of key campaigns, growth experiments, and thought leadership.
  • Maximize content distribution, partnering with Growth, Social, and Community teams to expand reach and performance.
  • Play a key role in special content projects, from founder-focused reports to early podcast and video content pilots.
  • Contribute to editorial ops with a strategic lens, helping evolve systems that make content development smarter and more scalable.
  • Surface performance insights, helping the team understand what’s working, why, and where to double down.

You have

  • 8+ years of relevant experience — combination of content, editorial, brand, and/or growth — ideally with a focus on startups / entrepreneurs / creators or financial services.
  • A strong track record of creating content that drives measurable business outcomes.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a knack for making complex ideas accessible and engaging.
  • Experience with formats beyond the blog — video, podcasts, data storytelling, infographics, virtual events and webinars, email, social.
  • Experience working with and managing freelance contributors.
  • Strong familiarity with SEO, analytics, and the content funnel, and a willingness to experiment and optimize.
  • Comfort working in a remote-first, async-friendly environment with tools like Google Docs, Asana, and Slack.

Bonus points for

  • Experience in a regulated or compliance-heavy industry (e.g., fintech, finance, health).
  • Familiarity with legal / compliance review processes for marketing content.
  • A portfolio that showcases editorial sharpness, bold creativity, audience empathy, and measurable results.
