Overview

This position is responsible for supervising and monitoring all activities in the LARC at MACC Moberly during the evening service hours. This includes providing support to evening tutors, assisting students in finding information for coursework in the library electronic databases and book collection, and performing customer service activities for any member of the college community. Additional responsibilities may be assigned. This is a part-time hourly position, approximately 19 hours per week, during the Fall and Spring semesters, with reduced hours in Summer.

Responsibilities

  1. Sit at Circulation Desk and answer LARC phone and field student questions;
  2. Prepare and process MOBIUS library materials;
  3. Assist students in finding and using LARC resources and databases;
  4. Check in and out LARC materials—textbooks on reserve, calculators, headphones, etc.;
  5. Troubleshoot computer and printer problems and contact MACC staff for additional tech support;
  6. Monitor students to ensure LARC guidelines are followed;
  7. Monitor and take charge of evening LARC activities as needed;
  8. Monitor and schedule virtual tutoring appointments as needed;
  9. Assist with monitoring the virtual tutor Zoom room;
  10. Assist communications with students via telephone, email, or other means;
  11. Provide basic technology support to include online/virtual courses and other basic level support;
  12. Nightly closing duties and securing LARC facility;
  13. Provide basic support for tutors and report any issues/concerns to LARC Director and/or LARC Assistant Director;
  14. Promote and market library and tutoring services to students;
  15. Monitor LARC for security concerns and contact MACC Security as needed;
  16. Scanning and data entry as needed;
  17. Other duties as assigned by LARC Director and/or LARC Assistant Director.

Qualifications

The position requires excellent customer service, communication, and telephone skills. Additional requirements include strong computer and clerical skills, time management, supervisory, and organizational skills with the ability to successfully multi-task. An Associate’s Degree is preferred.
