You excel in long-term and big-picture thinking, and can strategically prepare your assigned Division for the future. Described responsibilities include providing contemporary leadership for the Police Department, guiding strategic planning for the assigned Division, leading organizational change, partnering with the community, and fostering accountability and continuous development of staff. The Police Captain will exercise servant leadership, mentor staff, and maintain strong public safety partnerships to achieve department and community goals. Qualifications

The following qualifications reflect the requirements and competencies sought for this promotional role and include the organization’s emphasis on community policing and leadership excellence: Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills: Solid understanding of policies, procedures and the law; knowledge of current developments and trends in law enforcement. PROMOTIONAL SELECTION PROCESS ELIGIBILITY In order to participate in a promotional examination an applicant must meet the following requirements at time of application: Have permanent status in the classified service at the City of Napa. Have received an overall satisfactory rating on most recent evaluation report. Be earning a salary less than the salary of the position for which the exam is given. This recruitment and examination is being conducted to establish an eligibility list. The active status of the employment list will be six (6) months unless extended or abolished sooner. Minimum Qualifications

Do you have at least two years experience as a Police Lieutenant or in an equivalent sworn, supervisory level position in an agency comparable to the City of Napa? Do you have a Bachelor’s degree or higher? Additional Information
