Primary Responsibility

Full time faculty positions begin in July 2026 with a 30-credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually. The successful candidate will teach communications courses, including Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Group Communication, and support general education requirements within Associate’s and Bachelor’s programs as well as concurrent enrollment for local high school students. Courses may be taught in online, virtual classroom, in-person, and hybrid modalities.

Teaching responsibilities include delivering the course load as assigned, evaluating courses and student learning, meeting established course, program and learning outcomes, complying with guidelines and policies, maintaining office hours per standards, developing rapport with students, and assisting with advising, orientation and registration activities.

CMC Faculty are also expected to engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, project participation, mentoring peers, participating in assessment activities, program review, student organizations, recruiting and retention efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Essential qualifications include:

  • Master’s Degree in Communication, or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Communications.
  • At least one year, full-time teaching experience or the equivalent (30 credit hours) as an adjunct faculty member. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience delivering instruction in multiple modalities (in person, hybrid, synchronous online, asynchronous online); excellent written and oral communication skills; flexibility and collegiality.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $79,902.51 – $97,321.19 annual, dependent on education and experience. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Pet insurance, retirement contribution, tuition reimbursement, paid time off and sick leave, mental health resources, healthy lifestyle benefits, and relocation assistance if applicable. CMC uses a wage progression model; salary will be set per qualifications and in compliance with applicable pay equity laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following responsibilities align with evaluation and promotion procedures and ensure consistency in expectations:

  • Teach course-load as assigned; evaluate courses and student learning; meet course, program, and institutional learning outcomes; comply with department guidelines and college policies; maintain at least five office hours per week; develop professional rapport with students; assist with academic advising; participate in orientation and registration activities.
  • Engage in scholarly and creative activities to enhance discipline expertise and learning; participate in service activities (campus/college committees, mentoring peers, assessment activities, program reviews, recruiting/retention, etc.).
  • All faculty acknowledge that final contract payment may be withheld until grades submission is complete.

Organizational Relationships and Supervision

The position reports to the Dean of the School of the discipline and may supervise staff positions and/or student employees. Faculty collaborate with other program faculty and Student Services as part of advisory activities.

Special Conditions and Working Environment

Background check required; may involve motor vehicle records where applicable. May require travel and evening/weekend hours. Regular work involves computer use and standard office equipment; may require lifting up to 50 lbs in occasional tasks.
