Must be local to WI || DOTNET Web Developer -III

Role: .NET Web Developer -III

Location: Madison, WI - HYBRID (90-100% remote but may require onsite with sufficient notice)

Duration: 12+ months with extension

Overview

There are multiple projects underway, including an enterprise-wide migration to a unified authentication platform using Okta. The candidate should have strong experience with OIDC and secure authentication flows and be able to implement secure APIs using access tokens. Experience with identity and access management platforms such as Okta is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team to design and develop the front end and server-side of the web application.
  • Perform requirements analysis, design, front-end and back-end development, testing, and participate in code reviews.
  • Develop using JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC with C#, and SQL Server; work with DB2 and Oracle as needed.
  • Apply TDD to produce quality code; contribute to technical documentation and production support as required.
  • Participate in active code reviews and share expertise; maintain respectful communication and transparency.
  • Familiarity with automated testing methodologies and CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins) is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience implementing OIDC in .NET web applications (4+ years).
  • Strong SQL skills (writing custom SQL; 8+ years).
  • Full stack development experience with .NET MVC and C# (8+ years).
  • Experience with modernizing legacy applications (ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, n-tier architecture) and modern UI frameworks (JavaScript, Blazor, Kendo UI).
  • Familiarity with IIS, PowerShell, and configuring CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps Artifacts is a plus.
  • Preferred: Wisconsin CARES, DCF systems, and related state application standards knowledge.

Nice-to-have/Additional capabilities

  • DB2 mainframe, COBOL modernization to .NET or other modern languages.
  • XPression, iOS/Objective-C/Swift experience, front-end UI design, and experience with frontend frameworks (Angular, React, Vue.js, Alpine.js, Blazor Server).
  • Kendo UI, Crystal Reports, Telerik Reports, and familiarity with CI/CD in Azure DevOps.

Environment and logistics

  • Candidate must be legally located in the United States; WI residency or relocation required.
  • Onsite occurrences are possible; the role is primarily remote with CST business hours (9:00 am – 3:00 pm CST or as defined by the hiring manager).
  • Candidate must provide own equipment as per job requirements.
  • Contract duration: through 06/30/2026 with potential extension.
