Responsibilities
- Use specialized knowledge to manage green coffee sales to customer accounts (From Sale to Delivery).
- Strengthen existing desk relations and help build new ones while advertising the wider work that LD does (Sustainable projects, specialty, supply chain services).
- Disseminate relevant information from roasters / cash market to internal teams and ensure detailed reporting of businesses.
- Contribute to quality control / cupping sessions, share knowledge with the wider desk, and collaborate across the business.
- Help develop junior talent by sharing experiences and involving them in work.
- Expand coffee roaster relationship value in terms of risk management, supply chain, and research collaboration; develop new customers and broaden catalogue; optimize trade execution.
- Play a key role in cash calls as allocated by manager; assist price discovery, data sourcing/analysis, and spots and destination pricing.
- Develop customer relations, understand client needs, and sustain relationships through commercial actions (market advice, client visits, etc.).
- Deploy agreed positions, negotiate and manage trades, close discussions and secure terms (financing structure and contracts); identify issues early to minimize risk.
- Liaise with smaller trade houses to increase sales volumes and access non-target clients.
- Oversee and coordinate execution of transactions until fulfilment, including demurrage, inventory management, invoices, risk exposure, and quality control from origin to final terms.
- Maintain regular communication with support teams across the globe (execution/logistics, sustainability, contracts, futures management, etc.).
- Gather market intelligence (supply, demand, prices, competition, trends) and participate in market data discussions; analyze sales and segments.
- Promote LDC products and teams, responsible sourcing, and certifications; identify potential new trade flows and customers, especially in Sustainable areas.
Qualifications
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree with preference for Economics or Business-related field.
Experience
- 5+ years in the coffee industry, including selling green coffee to roasters.
- Experience negotiating purchase and sales contracts under GCA terms and conditions.
- Experience roasting and cupping coffee; knowledge of coffee production, processing, exportation, and basic analysis.
- Understanding of green coffee import logistics including ocean and rail/truck freight.
Preferred Experience
- 5-10+ years in the coffee industry with strong green coffee sales background.
- Established relationships and track record of sales to roasters and dealers.
- 5 years Brazil naturals trading and quality experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilites
- Futures trading understanding (Series 3 equivalency).
- Knowledge of coffee quality characteristics; strong negotiation and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication; business development aptitude.
- Ability to operate coffee roasters, grinders, brewers, espresso machine, and moisture meter.

Additional Information
This position is hybrid and requires being in the office 4 days a week with 1 remote day.
Equipment Used: PC, telephone, Excel, CRM, Atlas; coffee lab equipment such as roasters, grinders, brewers, and moisture meter.
Working Conditions: Typical climate-controlled office; extended hours during month-end/year-end closes; 10% domestic/international travel.
Employee Supervision: No direct supervision; works collaboratively with marketers and regularly engages with operations and logistics.
Decision Making/Accountability: Applies knowledge of coffee production, processing, logistics, and futures trading to engage customers; contracts green coffee sales; manages customer accounts and resolves quality issues.
