Communications Broadcast & Multimedia Production Coordinator (aHEO) - Communications, Marketing and Public Relations
The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. The SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master’s Degree (27 months). The school seeks to recruit diverse, talented individuals and to enhance recruitment and retention of senior leadership, faculty, and staff to reflect the diversity of its student body.
CUNY SoM is seeking a dynamic photographer and multimedia professional to develop and execute a content strategy aligned with the SoM’s goals, target audience, and brand identity. The role collaborates with the Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations team to deliver impactful photography and video that resonates with internal and external audiences. The Coordinator will serve as the production point person on major initiatives, creating short-form video, audio experiences, motion graphics reels, static graphics, video production, and photography; ideate, script, produce, shoot, and edit original content for medical education initiatives and target audiences.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Capture and edit video, photo, and audio content for internal and external use; film and conduct interviews as needed.
- Assist with production of engaging video and multimedia projects supporting goals in enrollment, research, advancement, and reputation; create visual ads for digital marketing campaigns (student recruitment and brand awareness).
- Coordinate postproduction: editing, sound mixing, color correction, and final delivery; collaborate on social media graphics that extend video messaging.
- Develop and manage project timelines; oversee schedules from preproduction to delivery; establish regular deployment cadence for photography and video across social channels.
- Provide post-production of all images.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a photographer, videographer, or similar role.
- Strong technical skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign; Premiere/After Effects; Lightroom and Bridge a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with strong grammar for professional audiences.
- Strong page layout skills.
- Extensive knowledge of photography (mirrorless cameras, lighting, retouching/editing, studio workflow).
- Organized, proactive, motivated, and able to take initiative.
- Ability to work independently and in a team; flexible with changing priorities.
- Cultural understanding and sensitivity to tailor content to target audience preferences, interests, and nuances.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment; experience with content management and social media tools a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $48,647 - $66,154; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
