Job Title: Structural DesignerJob Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Designer with over 20 years of experience in the heavy industrial and power plant sectors. This role involves creating 3D models and design drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and ductwork. You will also prepare layouts and conceptual designs, review vendor shop fabrication drawings, and prepare material takeoffs to assist with cost estimates. Coordination with various disciplines, clients, and contractors, as well as performing site walk-downs for field verification and constructability, are key aspects of this position.
Responsibilities

Produce 3D models and design drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and ductwork.

Prepare layouts and conceptual designs.

Review vendor shop fabrication drawings.

Prepare material takeoffs and assist with cost estimates.

Coordinate work with other disciplines, clients, and contractors.

Perform site walk-downs for field verification and to address constructability.
Essential Skills
-
Proficiency in AutoCAD.

Extensive experience in 3D modeling and drawing creation.

Steel and concrete detailing background .

Technical writing skills to produce clear, concise drawing notes.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Capability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and vendors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with Advance Steel is preferred.

Strong background in structural engineering, civil engineering, and structural design.

Familiarity with layout design, material takeoff, and duct work.
Work Environment
This position offers the flexibility to work remotely or at the energy center. Some travel to SoCo generating plants may be required.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
